Wednesday Whiplash!

Thumb Tailgater Sports was out Wednesday night making some stops in Huron County at some Greater Thumb West boys basketball games with implications. No webcasts though - just catching up on some teams and coaches as we get closer to the end of season.
Some big clashes were on tonight. In particular was the Vassar @ Lakers game. The Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Lakers are still stinging from their two defeats last week against the Bay City All Saints. They have to forget about that and shake it off and get back into their hopes of a share of the GTW. It will be tough against the Vulcans as they have reloaded with the return of some players who were on a long suspension from basketball play. Vassar just needs to win to also stay in the hunt for the title. It is definitely the "Wild West" of the GTC.
And even after tonight the season is far from over...unlike the Greater Thumb East where the Ubly cannot afford a loss against a resurgence of improved play from the Brown City Greendevils. If the Bearcats win, they have some hopes of for a share of the GTE title with the Harbor Beach Pirates. But the Bearcats will need a lot of help from the team that beat them last week pretty handedly - the Sandusky Redskins. Sandusky takes on Harbor Beach on Friday night. But Ubly must help themselves first by beating the soul stealing Greendevils!
*Also another special announcement for the Thumb Area fans. Thumb Tailgater Sports will have some special guests on Thursday & Friday night.
Thursday at our coverage of the girls basketball game for the GTW title between the Lady Lakers & Reese Lady Rockets, Sports Writer Paul Adams of the Huron Daily Tribune will take part in the pre-game & halftime shows with the Thumb Tailgater Sports Crew, Eddie Fury, Adam Filkins & Mark "Mad Dogg" Dimon.
Friday is a real treat - joining Eddie Fury & Mikey Smith will be special guests, WLEW Fall Season Sports Announcers, Rick Glaza & Jason "JJ" Particka at the Bay City All Saints versus the Vassar Vulcans boys basketball game, that has the GTW title still up for grabs.
**Congratulations to the Carsonville-Port Sanilac Tigers on at least getting a share of the NCTL South League title by beating Memphis on Tuesday. Peck is still in the lurch hoping to pull off victories for a share to. It will be tough for the Pirates as tonight they must defeat Dryden, then next week against North Huron & Kingston. The Tigers meanwhile have Caseville & Dryden to end the season.
Over in Girls Basketball things got very interesting and once again the Greater Thumb "Wild" West lived up to it's billing as the Lady Vulcans defeated the Lady Lakers by one point on Tuesday night to force and hope for a three way tie towards the end of the season this Thursday night in girls basketball. Vassar has to defeat the feisty Bay City All Saints, while the Lady Lakers hold their destiny and must win for a share of the GTW title against Reese.
