Tonight marks the end of the season for the NCTL & GTC girls basketball teams. It also features two title championship games on the line!
Thumb Tailgater Sports features one of those games live on the internet! In the Greater Thumb West. It's the Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Lady Lakers hosting the Lady Rockets. The Lady Lakers must defeat the Reese Lady Rockets for at least a share of the GTW Title. If they do not - Reese will be the undisputed Greater Thumb West champions. Vassar Lady Vulcans will be pulling for the Lakers to beat Reese to create a three way tie for the GTW title, but Vassar also has to beat Bay City All Saint Lady Cougars. What "Wild West" end of the season.

It's not over there! Harbor Beach Lady Pirates may have some fans from Brown City in the stands at the Thumb Dome tonight! Sandusky Lady Redskins hosts Harbor Beach in both teams season ending game, where if Sandusky wins they will share the Greater Thumb East Title with the Brown City Lady Greendevils. If Harbor Beach wins, the GTE title will be in "soul" possession of the Lady Greendevils.
Last year was a crazy end of the season in the East where Brown City took the title due to some minor upsets. Let me rehash your memory again, back in the year 2009....
On Tuesday, February 22nd, 2009: It looked like the Ubly Lady Bearcats would have at least a share of the title by beating Brown City 51-47. That created a three way tie for the title with Sandusky & Brown City. Sandusky had won that night over Deckerville to keep it's share.
But then later that week on Thursday the final night of the regular season of the GTC - Deckerville Lady Eagles and Harbor Beach Lady Pirates pulled off huge upset wins. Deckerville beat Ubly in the final minutes with a big comeback win 47-40. Harbor Beach shellacked the Sandusky Lady Redskins 43-35. Those upset wins enabled the Brown City to claim the GTE Title.

Log on tonight with Thumb Tailgater Sports with updates on the Harbor Beach @ Sandusky game and of course on the internet for the live audio webcast of the Lady Lakers versus the Reese Lady Rockets!

*Congratulations does need to go out again to the Port Hope on winning the NCTL North Championship, and also to Memphis Lady Yellowjackets on claiming the NCTL South Title.

Brown City was not "handed" the league title last year. They worked hard all season long to be in the position to win it. Remember they did have to beat Sandusky to put the league race into a three way tie. They already had a share of the league when Sandusky and Ubly went into their final games and choked. I don't think its right to say it was handed to them, you are basically saying they did nothing to earn the title which is completely wrong.

You are right the earned it and I am sorry for that to be taken out of context. I didn't say they didn't do anything. I still hope the coverage is good enough for you, I always aim to get better. Don't forget to thank Deckerville for last years win to. Now "choked" is a harsh word to. Don't you think Deckerville or Harbor Beach were good enough last year? Most of that east was competitive. Heck look what a .500 Marlette team threw up against Sandusky at the Districts on Monday night! Sorry again for the "handed" remark.
