"Snowcopalyspe" 2016 wreaked havoc on Thumb Tailgater coverage area teams of high school basketball games that caused two days worth of cancellations / postponements. Many girls basketball games have been moved to join the boys on this Friday tonight - February 26th - as newly featured doubleheader of varsity action on the court. However many schools elected to close for third straight day due to power outages just coming back on from last night to this morning along with drifting snow on back roads and slick conditions on the main highways. Be careful and keep warm out there!Thumb Tailgater Sports does had Live Internet Webcasts of high school girls & boys basketball as we present a North Central Thumb League Stars Division game with the Caseville Eagles at the Deckerville Eagles.
Deckerville girls had no title hopes as that has been decided with Kingston winning the outright NCTL Stars Division title. However this will be a great warm up game for both Caseville and Deckerville leading into the girls basketball District playoffs starting Monday, Februrary 29th. Deckerville got the win 46-31.
Deckerville boys needed to win to stay in first place of the division standings. Despite Caseville having only one win of the regular season - they are a team that battles on the court and does not give in that easily to teams. However due to the long layup of school closings there was no practice for either team. Caseville was limited to 6 players on their roster - and Deckerville took advantage pulling away with a 51-22 victory, despite at one point Caseville leading at the end of the 1st Q 12-11.
