Gillespie has been a standout in high school basketball and softball for Memphis. She first impressed the Concordia staff at a high school basketball showcase during the fall season in Swartz Creek, Michigan.
Desiree led the Lady Yellowjackets to back to back NCTL South League championship titles. She averaged 14 points per game. Memphis Girls Baseketball Head Coach, Ken Helinski described her as a very competitive, physically strong, and a leader both on and off the court. She is a student athlete who excelled in the classroom but also in sports.
Desiree Gillespie was also just named to the Michigan Basketball Coaches All Academic All State Team, which requires you to have above a 3.5 grade point average, and make All Sate Mention by the Detroit Free Press.
Desiree also received accolades locally with many post season honors that included: First Team ALL NCTL, Second Team All Blue Water Area, Third Team All Macomb County secod tier, special mention of the BCAM's Best, and Honorable Mention Detroit Free Press All State Team.
Desiree Gillespie is the daughter of proud parents Dean and Karen Gillespie of Memphis.
