if you win an 8man championship with over 20 kids on the roster should it really count? im sure cps is really proud of their accomplishment. they give 8man football a bad name.

I say a big congratulations to Carsonville-Port Sanilac. Not sure, but this may be the biggest thing to hit them in sports...ever. Regarding anonymous' comment, regarding how many athletes you have on your team, apparently their numbers were down starting last year so they felt they couldn't field a eleven man team and be competitive. You still have to have some good players to be competitive, even in 8-man football. CPS can't recruit or get players from a larger region like the Catholic schools can, so their athletes from within their district accomplished this feat. Great season and great win for CPS! Their coaching must be excellent. A good feather in the cap for a Thumb team...

I really think that they should more or less call this an 8-man league championship. With only a handful of schools playing 8 man, it's hard to consider it anything more than that. To say that it is the most significant thing to happen to them in sports is a slap in the face to those who have competed in the past.

Nice story of CPS's win over Bellaire for their 'State Championship' in the Port Huron Times Herald. http://www.thetimesherald.com/article/20101031/SPORTS/10310313/Football-C-PS-wins-8-man-title Reading about the coaching strategy, the offense of the Bellaire team, and the playmaking of the CPS players, it is a nice accomplishment that they will remember for the rest of their lives. I don't know how many 'Anonymous's' we have here, or is it just one unappreciative, or jealous, guy who can't stand it when others accomplish something good. The 8-man teams come from all over the state (UP, Traverse, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids), so it is more than a league championship. And Bellaire, at least in basketball, has had a State Championship level sports program. So, again, kudo's to the CPS athletes on their accomplishment.

Who cares about 8 man football. The competition is terrible. If they ended up playing in the NCTL (11 man) they would get creamed and the teams in that league aren't that good either except for Deckerville. All they did in the thumb was take the worst 3 schools out of the NCTL in football, Akron-Fairgrove, CPS, and O-G and let them play each other because they suck and they do. They started this 8 man thing where programs or 1st year programs in football can have a football team. So, the competition is terrible cause you are playing 1st year programs or kids that haven't played football before and teams like A-F, CPS, and 0-G can win because they aren't any good against anybody else which is true. So, who cares about your "Mythical" State Championship game.
