Thumb Tailgater Sports will be covering the Millington vs Carrollton high school football playoff game. This is an exciting game for us to cover as we wanted to try to get in a Tri-Valley area team. Here we get two! The teams are in the Division 5, Region 2, District 2 bracket, and will take on the winner of the Vassar @ Fint Beecher game.
Carrollton ended up sharing the Tri-Valley West title with Saint Charles & Ithaca who are both in the playoffs. Carrollton finished the season at 8-1 and their only loss was to Ithaca 48-27. The Cavaliers are coming off back to back winning seasons, led by Head Coach Greg Wasmer. Carrollton had losing seasons from 1993 to 2007, so it has been a great turn around since Coach Wasmer came in to Carrollton. They lost in the second round of the playoffs in 2008, falling to Saginaw Nouvel 35-3. Nouvel finished at 4-5 this year and are not even a factor in the playoffs this year. Getting a taste of that playoff experience should give Carrollton a boost, but in the first round they contend against a team that has been in the thick of the playoffs for many years.....
Thumb Tailgater Sports live internet audio cast starts at 5:50pm for the pre-game show and game time is set for 7pm. Log on and tune in!
We also welcome an addition to our Thumb Tailgater Sports announcing team - Mark "Mad Dog" Dimon will be joining us as our official stats man, and as our extra set of eyes on the field. You will hear him chime from time to time with his analysis of the game.

Hope to see you in Millington if you can make it there J-Cass!
I am listening to your live broadcast and you said you were confused on a penalty that went against one of the teams for offsides. You said that since the ball was not snapped you did not understand the flag. FYI, as soon as the ball is signaled ready for play neither team can enter or line up in the nuetral zone. If they do it is encroachment and it is a dead ball foul. Many times it is not called but the officials will use what is known as preventive officiating and inform the offending player before they would actually flag them. This call is the resposibility of the linesmen.
