Ubly vs Hudson - At Ortonville-Brandon High School: Sat. Nov.21,1pm
Ubly Bearcats defeated Petersburgh-Summerfield Bulldogs to win a Regional Championship in Division 7, winning 42-20 in a hard fought game. The Ubly 1st string played the entire game. It was a good test for their offense and defense tonight. Ubly was able to get some good time consuming touchdowns by once again grinding it on ground. However we saw signs of a few good passing plays, and the secondary Ubly defense was on high alert against the potent pass threat of the Petersburgh-Summerfield Bulldog offense. There a sweet 60 yard TD pass from #3 QB Matt Hewitt to #8 Eric Cogan. Hewitt had about 260 yards passing yards in the game, and all those passes led to three TD's and were to his favorite receiver, Eric Cogan for the Bulldogs. Cogan graduates this year but Hewitt is a junior and returns next year. He had almost over 1800 yards passing for the season! Matt Hewitt also plays defense as a DB intercepting a Ubly pass at the 3yard line, but a couple plays later Hewitt threw an INT to. The player who intercepted...was Ubly's QB Adam Glaza! However it was Ubly who gained about 470 yards rushing on the ground, with Justin Cleary the workhorse gaining about 165 yards with 20 carries. We also the glimpsed of the future of the backfield with Bret Cleary getting a few touches. But it was Jordan Terassi who lead with rushing for about 187 yards on only 10 carries including back to back big runs to plow into the endzone finishing with 2 touchdowns on the night.

I am a big fan of Thumb Area Sports, but as some know my heart is where I graduated at - Deckerville High School. Even though the Eagles were knocked out of the 1st round of the football playoffs, some solace was done Thursday night when the Deckerville Lady Eagles won their first Regional Title! Congrats ladies! See details at the Huron Daily Tribune Sports Blog and in the Huron Daily Tribune Newspaper on Friday.

Hmmm....Thumb Tailgater Sports for the first time ever to stream a live internet cast of a volleyball game?
As a former United States Marine, I just have to say never forget, always remember those who have served in our military forces and who are currently protecting this great nation. I also celebrated being a Marine yesterday, as the U.S. Marine Corps, celebrated it's 234th birthday. Semper Fi! Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day, is the anniversary of the ending of World War I. Following World War II, the name of the holiday was changed (enacted June 1, 1954) to Veterans Day to honor those who died in all American wars. The day has since evolved to primarily be a time of honoring living veterans who have served in the military during wartime or peacetime.
